Electrodiagnostic Testing
Two Tests are Commonly Used
-
Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Test
-
Electromyography (EMG)
A nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test is used to assess nerve damage and dysfunction as it measures how quickly electrical signals move through your peripheral nerves.
Your peripheral nerves help you control your muscles and experience the senses. Healthy nerves send electrical signals more quickly and with greater strength than damaged nerves.

An Electromyography (EMG) measures the electrical activity in your muscles. EMG results can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction or problems with nerve-to-muscle signal transmission.

Both tests help find the presence, location, and extent of diseases that damage the nerves and muscles,
